There are many other types of seals found in a classic car aside from gaskets and these seals need to be installed correctly. High-pressure seals in fuel injection systems, banjo fittings on fuel lines and brake calipers, copper washers and paper gaskets are all used as methods of sealing and some of these joints are safety critical. In this classic car maintenance video from SkillShack, Ed Hughes explains why brake caliper and banjo hose fittings require particular care.
Also covered are lip seals, such as those found on differentials and crankcases. The way these seals work is explained alongside some tips on how to install firmly without risking damage to either the lip on the seal or the metal ring and spring that hold them in place.
