Classic Car Electrics - Basic Principles
Ed HughesIt is important to understand basic principles before progressing. In its simplest form, an electrical circuit is the flow of electrons from the positive side of the battery through a component back to the other battery terminal.

Now, the basic principle of any electrical system, or any electrical circuit, is that current leaves the positive terminal of the battery, it goes out through the wires into the circuits and does whatever work is required of it, and it returns to the negative terminal of the battery. And this complete circuit, with the current flowing through it, is essentially an electrical circuit. That's a very simple version, but that is the principle of them all.
