If your distributor has the amplifier unit attached to it this may be the problem- they over
heat in the Morgan engine space. Reasonably cheap on eBay, you can get kits to relocate them to a cooler spot

So simple but so easy to get wrong to. And a great relief when it fires up!!!

Emissions poor so changed to new carb. Started ran ok then failed . Discovered the slow running solenoid stuck closed. Replaced with the old one but unable to start . Carb spits back and so suspect the vacuum system or gasket leak. Replaced gaskets except inlet manifold which I checked nuts for tightness.
Also replaced fuel filter and pump but noted gasket had failed on the pump spacer block. Also replaced the pcv valve from rocker box and the pipe , which was full of mayo. Removed the rocker box clean underneath.
Did manage to start after prolonged turning over and then it ran smoothly and restarted on the key. Two days later and back to same symptoms again. All electrics fine with new plugs and turned over no problem. Checked compression and all good . I have not checked the pcv valve at the base of the inlet manifold it connects three vac hose lines and seems to be a temperature sensor . My Ford main dealer has not got one and didn’t know what it did
Could this be the needle in haystack ? Running short of ideas !! Please help if you can.
Doug
